This year’s edition of The F-List has now been released. This year, the list includes 802 advertising, communications, and PR agencies from around the world that, according to the Clean Creatives network, work for companies whose core business is based on the extraction, transportation, or sale of fossil fuels.
And just like last year, Four PR isn’t on the list.
We’re proud of that.
The F-List is compiled by Clean Creatives, an international movement of creatives, communications consultants, agencies, and clients who have pledged to decline future assignments from the fossil fuel industry. The rationale behind this is the belief that advertising and communication play a role in how people perceive companies, industries, and social issues—and that this role also entails a responsibility.
When Four PR joined Clean Creatives, we didn’t do it to get a badge on our website or to be able to check a box in a sustainability report.
We did this because we believe that communication is a tool that can be used to drive development forward.
For us, it’s not just about which customers we choose not to work with. It’s just as much about which clients we choose to work with. Our projects often revolve around innovation, social development, sustainable transition, workforce development, technology, research, and companies that want to contribute more than just their own sales.
We usually say that our most important task is to help clients find their role in society and articulate why that role matters to other people. When that happens, the most interesting stories emerge. Stories that strengthen brands, but also contribute to something greater.
That doesn’t mean our customers have to be perfect. There are no perfect companies and no perfect organizations.
However, we believe it is important to consider the direction we are helping to shape.
The world faces major challenges. Climate change is one of them. As a communications agency, we may not have the power to solve the problem on our own, but we can choose where to invest our time, our commitment, and our expertise.
That is why we are pleased that this year’s edition of The F-List was published without Four PR being included among the 802 agencies.
We intend to continue taking pride in that.
